SUMMER SPLASH

Summer Splash is an annual event held the last Saturday in June of each year and is a partnership between Challenge Alaska, the Palmer Elks Lodge #1842 and the Personal Watercraft Club of Alaska. It is the only adaptive water sports symposium held in Alaska and is celebrating it's 21st year at the Palmer Elks Lodge.

The event features:

  • Adaptive water skiing (with support in the water to start and "flank skiers" that will assist if the skier needs assistance re-starting after leaving the shore area
  • Pontoon boat rides
  • Canoes, kayaks and stand up paddleboards (traditional and adapted)
  • Power tube rides (2-3 person tubes)
  • Boat rides
  • Personal watercraft rides

Cost:

  • The cost for 2024 is $30 per particiapant 

Time Of The Event:

The event kicks off at 1:00 PM and runs through 6:00 pm.

UNIQUE for 2024:

2024 event information is as follows. Please note that we MAY be limiting the number of participants to the first 40 who register and pay. No walk up registration will be available – all registrants must complete required online paperwork and pay in advance of the event. Because of this, family members/providers MAY not be able to participate in the event. Additionally, no meal will be provided this year, though snacks and water will be available throughtout the day. Finally, the downstairs of the Elks Lodge will not be open. Portable toilets and outdoor hand washing stations will be provided. We ask that participants arrive dressed to participate. Changing tents will be available at the end of the event for participants to change out of their wet clothing before departing.

STEP 1: Complete the registration form linked above. At the conclusion of registration you'll have the opportunity to pay for the event. If you need to pay by cash or check contact us for directions on how to proceed. You should receive an email confirmation of your registration shortly after completing the form. 

STEP 2: Complete a Move United Release of Liablity Form and Move United Media Waiver by clicking here. 

 

What to Bring: 

  • Please arrive dressed for the event
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug spray (often there's a breeze, but just in case....)
  • A water bottle with your name on it to avoid losing it
  • Change of clothing
  • Towel
  • Sun glasses (with strings to keep them from falling off on rides)
  • Wet suit or dry suit if you own one (and plan on water skiing - wet suits available in limited sizes for water skiers only)
  • Small bag for personal belongings when out on the water (to give to someone on shore)
  • Water shoes/sandals

If coming from Wasilla:

  • Head east on the Palmer-Wasilla Highway (toward Palmer)
  • Turn left on Trunk Rd. (north)
  • Turn left at Bogard Rd. traffic circle (west)
  • Turn left at N. Barry's Resort Dr. (south) - at the top of a small hill - Palmer Elks Lodge sign on left side of road
  • Dead end into Palmer Elks Lodge

 

If coming from Palmer:

  • Head west on the Palmer-Wasilla Highway (toward Wasilla)
  • Turn right on Trunk Rd. (north)
  • Turn left at Bogard Rd. traffic circle (west)
  • Turn left at N. Barry's Resort Dr. (south) - at the top of a small hill - Palmer Elks Lodge sign on left side of road
  • Dead end into Palmer Elks Lodge

 

If coming from Anchorage:

  • Follow the Glenn Highway to the Parks / Glenn split
  • Stay on the Parks Highway
  • Exit Trunk Rd. (first exit)
  • Turn right onto Trunk Rd. (north)
  • Go straight through the traffic circle (north)
  • Follow across Palmer-Wasilla Highway
  • Turn left at Bogard Rd. traffic circle (west)
  • Turn left at N. Barry's Resort Dr. (south) - at the top of a small hill - Palmer Elks Lodge sign on left side of road
  • Dead end into Palmer Elks Lodge
     

Volunteers: 

Please note that for the 2024 Summer Splash we have a variety of volunteer positions that are essential in making this event a success. The time of the event has been changed and no meal will be provided, but snacks will be made available throughout the day. Also new, the downstairs of the Elks Lodge will not be open. Portable toilets and outdoor hand washing stations will be provided.  We ask that volunteers arrive dressed to participate. Changing tents will be available at the end of the event for anyone to change out of their wet clothing before departing.
