Every year Anchorage has the largest audience nationwide of the latest Teton Gravity Research (TGR) Extreme Ski & Snowboarding Film! Challenge Alaska partners with TGR and ½ of the ticket sales benefit Challenge Alaska's Programs for people with disabilities.
There are 4 showings: 7pm and 9pm on a Friday and Saturday night in mid October. Showings are traditionally held at the Wendy Williamson Auditorium on the UAA campus.
Attendance at the TGR films is a great way to start getting excited about the upcoming ski season and support Challenge Alaska! For sponsors, it is the perfect event for direct marketing opportunities to a huge crowd of outdoor enthusiasts.
Marketing Efforts:
The marketing and hype associated with the Anchorage showings is hard to escape. Our event partnership with 106.5 KWHL and their sister stations has been very effective in keeping the air waves saturated with both advertisements and morning show presence concerning the film.
With incorporated remote broadcasts for ticket giveaways and for the event itself, the level of energy created is amazing. We generally run between 500 and 1000 sixty second television spots on 30 cable channels and have been the subject of primetime news stories on the evening news. For the last seven years we have received cover page stories in the Anchorage Press, The "8" section of the Anchorage Daily News, and the Entertainment section of the Anchorage Daily News. Over 500 posters are hung in the Anchorage, Girdwood and Wasilla areas. We generally fly in at least one nationally known athlete to help promote and to attend the film showing. These athletes are available for poster signings at the business locations of our Level III sponsors.
