Higher Education Opportunities Include Disabled Sports

With athletic scholarships available to young people wishing to pursue higher education, sports for youth with physical disabilities has added meaning. At least twelve universities and colleges now offer competitive and recreational disabled sport opportunities for students with physical disabilites. Schools include:

  • Oklahoma State University
  • University of New Hampshire
  • University of Airzona
  • University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
  • University of Oklahoma
  • University of Missouri - Columbia
  • University of Texas - Arlington

For those preparing to go to college and would like to pursue this avenue, participation in a local youth sports program that can help develop your skills is essential. The BlazeSports Youth Program can provide you with that opportunity as well as the chance to make new friends, improve your fitness, and introduce you to options you might not have considered otherwise.

To learn more about higher education opportunities, you can contact the above mentioned shcools online or via phone, or visit the Anchorage School District's Adaptive Physical Education Department's website at and look for the text box marked University Level Options.
