Summer Splash

 

Summer Splash is an annual event held the last Saturday in June of each year and is a partnership between Challenge Alaska, the Palmer Elks Lodge #1842 and the Personal Watercraft Club of Alaska. It is the only adaptive water sports symposium held in Alaska and is celebrating it's 12th year at the Palmer Elks Lodge.

The event features:Summer Splash

  • Adaptive and traditional water skiing (with support in the water to start and "chasers" that will assist if the skier needs assistance re-starting after leaving the shore area
  • Pontoon boat rides
  • Canoeing and kayaking
  • Power tube rides (three person tubes)
  • Boat rides
  • Personal watercraft rides
  • Lunch
  • Free beach towel (first 50 paid participants to arrive)

 

Cost:

$40 for participants $10 for non-participants (food costs). Limited transportation from the Anchorage office can be made on a first-reserved, first-served basis. 

General Info:

The event kicks off with lunch at 11:00 AM and runs through 5:00 pm.

The event site is the Palmer Elks Lodge which overlooks beautiful Finger Lake. Access to the lake is around the back of the lodge on a grassy hill. There is access to a small indoor dining area and a bathroom. Access to the upstairs part of the lodge, including the deck is not allowed as these areas are open to lodge members only.

 

What to Bring:

  • Sunscreen
  • Bug spray (often there's a breeze, but just in case....)
  • A water bottle
  • Change of clothing
  • Towel
  • Sun glasses (with strings to keep them from falling off on rides)
  • Wet suit or dry suit if you own one (and plan on water skiing - wet suits available for water skiers only)
  • Small bag for personal belongings when out on the water (to give to someone on shore)
  • Water shoes/sandals

If coming from Wasilla:

  • Head west on the Palmer-Wasilla Highway (toward Wasilla)
  • Turn right on Trunk Rd. (north)
  • Turn left at Bogard Rd. traffic circle (west)
  • Turn left at N. Barry's Resort Dr. (south) - at the top of a small hill - Palmer Elks Lodge sign on left side of road
  • Dead end into Palmer Elks Lodge

 

If coming from Palmer:

  • Head west on the Palmer-Wasilla Highway (toward Wasilla)
  • Turn right on Trunk Rd. (north)
  • Turn left at Bogard Rd. traffic circle (west)

If coming from Anchorage:

  • Follow the Glenn Highway to the Parks / Glenn split
  • Stay on the Parks Highway
  • Exit Trunk Rd. (first exit)
  • Turn right onto Trunk Rd. (north)
  • Go straight through the traffic circle (north)
  • Follow across Palmer-Wasilla Highway
  • Turn left at Bogard Rd. traffic circle (west)
  • Turn left at N. Barry's Resort Dr. (south) - at the top of a small hill - Palmer Elks Lodge sign on left side of road
  • Dead end into Palmer Elks Lodge

 

ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE A LIABILITY WAIVER ON FILE BEFORE PARTICIPATING SIGNED BY THEMSELVES AND/OR LEGAL GUARDIAN (if not own legal guardian). We cannot accept signatures from any person other than legal guardians if not own guardian.
